Two of my second grade boys were working on a timeline of Theodore Roosevelt's life:
Second Grade Boy1: "Teddy is white"
Second Grade Boy2: "What? I used brown!"
Second Grade Boy1" "Yeah, he is white. See, here is his picture."
Second Grade Boy2: "Miss Laura, Miss Laura! Teddy is white, and I drew his Mom brown! I didn't know. What do I do. Do I use this white crayon?!"
Me: "What color am I?"
Second Grade Boy2: "White"
Me: "Do I match that crayon?"
Second Grade Boy1: "No. Ummm...You are peach! You match this one...well kinda. Oh! Maybe you are apricot! Do we color Teddy with the apricot crayon?"
For the next couple of minutes the two boys keep trying to match my skin color and their skin colors to the crayons
